Women participants index

Women Participation in Development Index (WPD)

The Women Participation in Development Index is a local, composite, and weighted index that measures the participation of Saudi women in development across five key dimensions: the educational axis, the health axis, the economic axis, the organizational axis, and the social axis. Each axis consists of variables derived from corresponding global indicators, developed by local experts, and calculated using national statistics. The index assesses developmental requirements and local priorities for each administrative region and across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Purpose of the Index

The Women Participation in Development Index was established to serve as a key reference for decision-making related to women’s empowerment and enhancing their participation in all developmental sectors. The index provides periodic values that measure the extent of women’s contributions to critical areas that support the realization of Saudi Vision 2030. Each area contributes to achieving the Kingdom’s strategic objectives and general directions. Moreover, the index highlights developmental aspects requiring support, which will positively impact Saudi Arabia’s ranking in relevant international indicators, classifications, and reports.

Calculation Methodology

The index is calculated periodically using national and official data from the General Authority for Statistics and relevant government entities.
