What is the National Observatory for Women (NOW)?


Introduction

The National Observatory for Women’s Participation in Development is a center of expertise that monitors women’s participation in development at both local and global levels and evaluates its direct impact on society and overall development.
The observatory serves as a key reference for decision-makers, civil society institutions, and organizations by building and measuring indicators related to women’s role in development. It provides stakeholders with data and studies that support and enhance women’s participation in development.
The observatory comprises a distinguished team of experts, specialists, and consultants in research, analysis, and measurement across various fields related to economic and social development.

Establishment

The National Observatory for Women’s Participation in Development was established at King Saud University following the approval of the university’s president (Document No. 86623/11/1, dated Safar 25, 1439 AH, corresponding to November 15, 2017). The observatory was later transferred to Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University on Rabi’ al-Awwal 9, 1441 AH, corresponding to November6, 2019.
